Introduction
Political Science Department of Women's College can claim the pride of being one of the oldest departments of the college since its inception. The department has been gradually evolving and has been successful in acquiring a special position in the entire state as our students have bagged the University toppers position several times. Presently Political science is offered as a course of study at the under graduate level, as Political Science Major and B.A. Political Science General Course. There are 5 faculty members with 2 guest faculty in the department.The members of the department are actively involved not only in all academic affairs but also in all sorts of extra-curricular activities. All of them are very sincere and dedicated towards their professional duties. A cordial yet informal teacher-student relationship exists in the department creating an atmosphere conducive to all-round progress and overall personality development of the students.
Programme Outcome- Completion of the Bachelor Programme in Political Science leads a significant thrust on the knowledge of Indian Constitution, Govt. , Public administration and International relations. It also requires students to study the constitutions of China, Switzerland, UK and USA. The course includes Sociology, Women and Politics, Western and Indian political thinkers & Human Rights. It also helps them to comprehend the basic structure and process of Govt. systems. The programme prepares students for pursuing higher education in Political science. It orients students towards National and State level competitive examinations like TPSC, UPSC, etc. Many students also pursue courses in Law.
Course Outcome- The course outline of the discipline of Political science are divergent and contemporary. The course completion results the study of the different concept of political theory and comparative politics. It also study the concept of different political systems, theories of International relations, Concept of Inter-relations among the states and its impact, basic theories of Public administration and local governance.
